Claire Baum

Claire Baum is originally from Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Bard College in 2011 with a B.A. in dance, and a concentration in human rights and African studies. There she had the incredible pleasure of working with: Aileen Passloff, Maria Simpson, Peggy Florin, Leah Cox, Stuart Singer, and members of the Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company.  She has performed and choreographed nationally and internationally creating original solo and collaborative dance works in Ghana, West Africa (where she spent her study abroad); Kingston, Jamaica; and New York. Claire is a co-founder of KitchenSink Collective and has danced for GET DOWN/ PICK UP Company with Emily Miller, and Sans Limits Dance Collective.

 

Caroline Martin

Caroline Martin, a native Marylander (by way of Minnesota...and Connecticut), is delighted to join the KitchenSink Collective!  Caroline holds a B.A. in Dance as well as Elementary Teacher Certification from Connecticut College.  In 2006, Caroline graduated among the first teachers in her state with a unique cross endorsement in the field of Dance Education (K-6).   She furthered her craft at the American Dance Festival, where she studied under a Young Artist Scholarship and had the great privilege of performing in its International Choreographers Commissioning Program.  Caroline is also a recreational costume designer whose pieces have appeared in the online editions of New York Magazine, the Village Voice, the Radiolab blog, and the Fashion & Styles section of the New York Times.  Currently, she teaches visual arts and movement exploration to pre-schoolers at Studio Creative Play in Brooklyn.

Laura Neese

Laura Neese is a contemporary dance artist and educator from Staten Island, NY, where she developed a love for dance under the mentorship of Rosemary Cappozalo and studied Irish dance with Niall O’Leary.  She holds a BFA in Dance & BA in English Literature from SUNY Buffalo,  a certificate in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training,  & pursued additional study at  the University of Chichester, UK. In addition to collaborating with the amazing women of the KitchenSink Collective, Laura is a current member of Darrah Carr Dance, SuisoCo, and has worked with artists including Melissa West, Chia Ying Kao, and BalaSole Dance Co.   She presents her own solo & interdisciplinary work,  & teaches throughout the Greater NYC area.  www.lauraneese.com

Katherine Gore Lanzetta

Katherine Gore-Lanzetta, originally from Maryland, studied dance at Point Park University and Valencia Community College before graduating with a BA in Dance, with a minor in Sociology, from CUNY Hunter College in 2009. Throughout her college career, she performed the works of Jeanne Travers, Voci Dance, Limon Dance Company, and Mark Morris Dance Group and her choreography was presented at the American College Dance Festival and throughout the NYC public school system. Since graduation, Katherine has performed and collaborated with Barbara Mahler, Phil Lanzetta/Vantage, Katie Balton Dance, and mwest and company. She teaches ballet and tap to young children, specializing in ages 18months to 5years, at various locations across the city.

Lauren began her dance education under the direction of Barbara Pontecorvo in Dayton, Ohio and received her B.A. in Dance with honors from Point Park University where she performed in works by Doug Bentz and Judith Leifer. Lauren has attended dance intensives with the Boston Ballet, American Dance Festival, Trisha Brown Dance Company and Doug Varone. Upon graduation, Lauren moved to NYC and trained in Limon technique in the Limon Intensive Studies Program, and has had the pleasure of working on projects with Mari Meade Dance Collective, Creature Theater / CJ Holm, and Eli Tamandong/project.ile imagery. Lauren is a company member of The Moving Architects. Lauren originated the DANCE 'n TELL concept and Facebook group, and is a partner for the curated class calendar site: www.dancentell.com 

Katie Vason

co-founder, body whisperer

Katie Vason a native of Atlanta, Georgia, graduated from Connecticut College with a double major in dance & self-designed major environmental politics. While at Connecticut College, she had the privilege of studying & working with David Dorfman, Lisa Race, Robyne Watkin, Dan Wagoner, Lan-Lan Wang, Heidi Henderson, Jeff Rebudal, & Jeremy Nelson. Katie spent summers at  ADF & Bates Dance Festival, and has presented choreography at the American College Dance Festival. Since moving to NYC, Katie has danced with BE Dance Collective & showcased her own work as part of BE Dance Collective’s Here, at the Cunningham Studios in March 2011. She has performed at the House of Yes & GreenSpace, among other venues, as part of KitchenSink Collective, & at Dixon Place & DNA’s WIP series with Keeley Walsh. Katie is a certified Pilates Instructor on equipment through the Kane School of Core Integration, currently teaching at the Pilates Garage and Progressive Pilates in Brooklyn.

Sally  Kreimendahl

Sally Kreimendahl began ballet training at the age of seven in her hometown of Newton, MA, under the direction of Bette Joachiam. She later trained at José Mateo’s Ballet Theatre in Cambridge, MA before moving to Seattle to attend Cornish College of the Arts. Sally graduated in Spring 2011 with a B.F.A. in Dance with an emphasis in Performance and Choreography. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City where she has performed under multiple choreographers including Laurel Desmarais and Ian Spencer Bell. She has restaged Merce Cunningham works through their trust and is currently collaborating on a new piece with Kitchen Sink Collective. 

Joanna Futral

Joanna Futral is originally from Atlanta, GA & graduated from Georgia Tech in 2009 with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. While at Tech, Joanna performed with the football & basketball dance teams & Dance Tech Club.  She attended the American Dance Festival at Duke in 2008 & in New York City in 2010. Joanna has performed around Atlanta with Refuge Dance Company, Redemption Dance Theater, Ellisor Dance, CORE Performance Co, and Zoetic Dance Ensemble. She moved to NYC in January of 2012. She currently enjoys work studying at 100 Grand studios, working at Mathnasium: The Math Learning Center, working at Rosebud Boutique, & taking classes around the community.
